About the Position Job Description The primary role of the Utilities Engineering Department is to provide a reliable source of Utilities [available and cGMP quality compliant] to the Manufacturing Operations. In support of this, the Process Engineer will provide professional engineering services including engineering best practice on equipment selection, maintenance, operation, performance monitoring, problem solving and improvement on the relevant systems [HVAC, pure water systems, pure steam, bulk reagents, gases and mechanical services]. Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities Ensuring actions comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other CSL Business practices. Meet pharmaceutical regulatory requirements by being familiar with and following the relevant regulatory guidelines for manufacture of medicinal products for human use. Achieve objectives agreed with the Senior Process Engineer under the Individual Performance Management (IPM) program. Develop sound engineering solutions to improve the reliability and effectiveness of the Utilities services equipment. Supervise and coordinate, as required, technical personnel and contractors during regular maintenance, major shutdowns and servicing works. Collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure that existing and new projects and equipment installation for the department will be a reliable source of Utilities [available and cGMP quality compliant] to the Manufacturing Operations. Duties 1. Conduct engineering works as directed by the Senior Process Engineer. 2. Implement actions to achieve the objectives agreed with the Senior Process Engineer under the Individual Performance Management (IPM)program. 3. Work in cooperation with the department s staff and the staff of other departments of the Division, to achieve Business goals. 4. Maintain an awareness of operating trends, plant performance and difficulties encountered within the plant. 5. Investigate plant failures and operating incidents. Determine causes, develop solutions, prepare engineering proposals and implement approved solutions 6. Report and investigate critical plant services deviations, execute CAPAs [Corrective Actions & Preventative Actions] and implement Change Controls as required 7. Review plant maintenance history, plant failures, waste and energy usage, mass/energy balances and process models. Analyse plant performance and implement plant performance improvement programs, including revision of preventive maintenance schedules where appropriate 8. Develop project briefs, system requirements and preliminary budgets to support the implementation of projects to improve the reliability of Utilities services and submit these to the Senior Process Engineer for review. 9. Maintain project quality standards, risk assessments, compliance with OH&S codes and CSL approved procedures. 10. Coordinate and support component and plant or system commissioning activities. 11. Respond to requests for engineering assistance from department staff and customer departments. 12. Perform Shift Engineer duties and be trained in shift operations of Utilities services equipment, as agreed with the Senior Process Engineer Critical Utilities. 13. Assist with remedial cleaning and passivation of equipment as directed. 14. Assist with the preparation of Scope of Work technical briefs for service contracts in collaboration with the Planning and Support Group. 15. Develop and maintain technical, process models, mass and energy balance, operating, maintenance and training documentation, and conduct training activities, as required. 16. Support in the preparation of the Utilities Engineering Operational Budget and Monthly Report. To be successful in this role you will have A Bachelors degree in Engineering [Mechanical or Chemical] [Recognised by Engineers Australia as Professional Engineer qualification] Demonstrated experience with Chemical process / utilities plants including the maintenance and/or operation preferably of Pure Water Systems, HVAC or Mechanical Services, etc. You will have a sound knowledge of plant diagnostic methods and reliability engineering. You will be patient and driven to invest a significant amount of time mastering our very complex plant and have a high standard of accountability and ownership of your plant section. Experience with Siemens PCS 7 will be highly regarded as will knowledge of effective management of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. Pharmaceutical knowledge would be hugely beneficial but is not essential. Exceptional analytical, organisational and communication skills are essential.
